Extending Disk for Local Drives in Windows Server 2008 & 2012

Today let’s discuss on Extending Disk for Local Drives

Here we need to add 50 GB to the current Disks drives.

G Drive current size : 200 GB

H Drive current size : 200 GB as shown below:


Post adding the space on Storage then adding the space for local drive from Disk Management as shown below:

Here required Disk space being allocated with 50 GB for both the drives.

Go to Computer Management

Under the Storage, go to Disk Management.

Right click on disk Management click “Rescan Disks”


Post you click on Rescan this will scan the disks as shown below:


This will show the unallocated space provided as shown below:

Now we need to click on Extend Volume.


Right click on the Primary Partition where you want to allocate the unallocated space.

Then click on Extend Volume. This will let us to open New Window, now click Next as shown below:


Click Next…


Click Finish…


Yes we see that we have completed the disk extension for one drive…..


Follow the same steps for the different drive…
